Behaviour Problems

Pups will systematically bite and chew - their teeth can be very sharp and destructive and allowed to continue unabated it could lead to serious problems. Play with the pup allowing limited biting but make sure you control it and the pup knows when to stop.

Training Your Pup

It is important to understand that dogs read your body language even though you may not notice. It is useful to develop specif body language actions in relation to your training program.

For example a hand signal with every attempt to get your pup to sit will eventually result in the pup sitting simply to the hand signal

The First Months

After a few weeks your puppy will have settled down, will want play and sleep alternatively and should be into a routine of where and when to eat, where to sleep etc. Training should have began and the pup should be beginning to recognize the signs and know right from wrong but not necessarily do it. By 12 weeks you should be cutting down the feeding to 3 times per day and increasingly exercising the pack leadership role. I cannot stress enough that puppies need to understand who is in charge and their role in the pecking order. The pup should always eat after the humans.

Many people asks us about vaccinations and you can read what the experts say by following the link:-

To Vaccinate or Not

Training should be ongoing from the minute the step across the door.
